UPDATE: The boy died, authorities said.Orginial story: EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — A teen was hospitalized after they were pulled from Lake Michigan in Northwest Indiana on Monday evening, police say.According to East Chicago Police, the teen was unconscious when they were rescued by crews from the East Chicago Fire Department. ‘It seemed to be the only choice’: Suspect allegedly leaves note inside victim’s car after violent attack The victim was seen on a stretcher after fire department personnel performed CPR.Currently, it is unclear which area of the lake the rescue took place. AUSTIN (KXAN) — The impeachment trial for suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton began Tuesday morning at the State Capitol. Proceedings started at 9 a.m. in the Senate chamber.KXAN is streaming the proceedings in this story.Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick will be the presiding officer of the trial, functioning as a judge. Senators will serve as jurors. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- After a devastating freeze in 2021, Texas citrus growers are sharing some surprising news with this year's harvest -- optimism. Two years ago, the historic winter storm that crippled the state was said to have killed or damaged approximately 10% of citrus trees, or 24,000 acres. Fast forward to this year, experts say surviving trees are showing good results.Meteorologist Kristen Currie spoke with Dr. Juan Anciso, a professor with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, to see how recent weather extremes, like the 2021 freeze and ongoing drought, have impacted Texas citrus production.Below is a transcript of their conversation. Strong winds and rough water are thought to have contributed to the Friday drownings of two Blaine teens in western Wisconsin, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office said.Just after 5 p.m. Friday, Burnett County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls about two missing swimmers on Lipsett Lake in Rusk Township. Responding agencies used air and water drones, underwater radar, boats and divers.Grace Rhine and Kyree Shaw, both 18, were found in 15-20 feet of water. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and both were pronounced dead at the scene. KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Kingston man pleaded guilty to strangulation and assault on Friday. William Knox III, 29, faces five to seven years in state prison on each charge. According to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office (UCDA), Knox was first charged with acts of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend in February and March of 2022. The UCDA says he choked the victim in front of her 4-year-old child, causing injury and loss of consciousness to the victim. While at the Ulster County Jail, the UCDA says he assaulted a corrections officer, resulting in more charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 11, 2024. He plans to use his winnings to buy a house.The winning ticket was sold at Costanzo’s Package & Variety located at 180 Onota Street in Pittsfield. TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The man accused in a fatal stabbing in Troy was also arrested by U.S. Border Patrol Agents earlier this year. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! 20-year-old Carlos Corrales-Ramirez was arrested Sept. 3 and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of 28-year-old Jario Hernandez-Sanchez. He was arraigned Sept. 4 in Troy City Court and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault. Steven Barker, Assistant Chief of Police, confirmed to News10 Corrales-Ramirez was also arrested earlier this year by U.S. Border Patrol in connection to a stabbing in Maryland. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Crestwood man was recently convicted of mutilating and killing his neighbor's dog several years ago. John C. Ross III, 63, was found guilty of animal abuse and weapons charges in a bench trial Friday. Call for Help closure has East St. Louis mothers crying for aid According to charging documents, the dog was stabbed to death on Sept. 7, 2019, in the 9700 block of Greenview Drive.Investigators say the victim’s dog, Teddy, wandered onto Ross’ property. Ross walked over to Teddy, grabbed the dog by the scruff of the neck, and began stabbing him. The owner rushed Teddy to an animal hospital, but the dog had lost too much blood and had to be put down. After Labor Day weekend, network outages continue to impact facilities operated by the ‘Hospital Sisters Health System,’ or HSHS.
