PLANT CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — After sitting in a New Mexico desert for about 40 years, a private jet once owned by Elvis Presley has made it to Tampa Bay, Florida. The King of Rock 'n' Roll's 1962 Lockheed JetStar is being stored in Plant City by owner James Webb of "Jimmy's World" on YouTube, who bought it for $234,000."Airplane itself is flipping cool, even without the obvious connection, but if you add in the Elvis connection, there's no rock 'n' roll star bigger than Elvis, in my opinion," Webb said. The jet was transported from Roswell, New Mexico, to Florida, traveling more than 1,600 miles. According to People magazine, the battered jet, which had been parked at the Roswell International Air Center in New Mexico, sold at auction on Jan 8 — which would have been Presley's 88th birthday.Presley bought the jet, which seats up to nine, on Dec. 22, 1976, for $840,000. It was one of several jets in his personal fleet, according to the auction site. Two of them are currently being displa...Dean's Reviews: 'Champions' and 'Scream VI'

(The Conversation) - As clocks march ahead and daylight saving time begins, there can be anxiety around losing an hour of sleep and how to adjust to this change.Usually an hour seems like an insignificant amount of time, but even this minimal loss can cause problems. There can be significant health repercussions of this forcible shift in the body clock.Springing forward is usually harder that falling backward. Why?The natural internal body clock rhythm in people tends to be slightly longer than 24 hours, which means that every day we tend to delay our sleep schedules. Thus, “springing forward” goes against the body’s natural rhythm. It is similar to a mild case of jet lag caused by traveling east – in which you lose time and have trouble falling asleep at an earlier hour that night.Even though it’s technically just one hour lost due to the time change, the amount of sleep deprivation due to disrupted sleep rhythm lasts for many days and often throws people off sc...Asteroid could hit Earth on Valentine's Day in 2046

WASHINGTON D.C. (KXAN) - Earth may have a very bad Valentine's Day in its future. NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office announced earlier this week that they have detected an asteroid that may impact the Earth on February 14th, 2046.We've been tracking a new asteroid named 2023 DW that has a very small chance of impacting Earth in 2046. Often when new objects are first discovered, it takes several weeks of data to reduce the uncertainties and adequately predict their orbits years into the future. BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- Neighbors and city officials in Bastrop County are concerned about the Boring Company's request to dump more than 100,000 gallons of treated wastewater into their drinking-water supply, and this month they will get a chance to hear from Elon Musk's company and the state commission responsible for granting the permit to dump. After a public outcry against the permit, and a request from state Sen. Sarah Eckhardt, D-Austin, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing to answer questions on March 21. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Bastrop. "They could be doing a lot better, and we're learning on how to deal with that, and what we can do to make sure that this is a positive thing for the county," Chap Ambrose, who lives right next door to the Boring Co.'s facility, explained. What does the permit allow? Editor’s Note: The video above shows KXAN News Today’s top headlines for March 10, 2023.AUSTIN (KXAN) — It's never easy to beat a team three times, but No. 12 Texas was able to accomplish that over Oklahoma State with their 61-47 win in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal. The Longhorns were without senior forward Timmy Allen who missed the game with a lower leg injury. The game was not a pretty affair, as both teams combined for 33 turnovers and no team shot better than 40% from the field. It was the Texas defense that shined, particularly in the second half, where they kept Oklahoma State from making a field goal for two separate stretches of over three minutes. The longest field goal drought for Oklahoma State was around seven minutes to start the second half. Texas had five players score in double figures, with Sir'Jabari Rice taking the title of leading scorer with 15 points.Dylan Disu had a standout performance for Texas, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for his f...Loons ‘lucky’ to have new center back Micky Tapias

New Minnesota United center back Micky Tapias produced a strong MLS debut in the Loons’ 1-0 win over FC Dallas on Feb. 25, but the first impression wasn’t spotless. What stood out was how the 26-year-old Mexican responded to a rare, and potentially catastrophic mistake.Just after halftime, Tapias lost the ball at midfield and Alan Velasco started a Dallas break. Tapias sprinted back, knowing his error might lead to a scoring chance in a then goal-less match.Seconds later at the top of the box, Tapias won the ball back from Paul Arriola — one of Tapias’ game-high eight clearances in his 90-minute shift. When Dallas kept coming in stoppage time, Tapias was there to deny them. With Tapias in the opener, the Loons produced their first road clean sheet in nearly a calendar year, 16 matches since March 13, 2022. MNUFC conceded only one shot on target against Dallas, and that was on a corner kick easily parried over the crossbar by Dayne St. Clair. The Loons will now look to keep up th...With three weeks to go until Opening Day, a look at how Twins roster could shape up
