Indiana gubernatorial candidates speak on respective campaigns as election year begins

INDIANAPOLIS -- In 2024, the state of Indiana will have a new governor, with Eric Holcomb, the current Republican governor of Indiana, not being able to seek reelection in 2024 because of term limits.Throughout 2023, and even into 2022, a number of people have thrown their hat into the ring, announcing that they plan to run for the position. Many of the candidates have spent portions of the last year speaking with Hoosiers, seeing what they want out of a governor. FOX59/CBS4 spoke with each of the candidates who have announced their intentions to run for governor so far. Take a look at what they had to say as their campaigns move into 2024. AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is dead after a vehicle-pedestrian crash in north Austin early New Year's Day, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. The crash happened near 6500 N. Interstate 35 southbound, which is close to Huntland Drive. An adult died at the scene, according to ATCEMS. ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Round Rock police are asking for help identifying an armed robbery suspect, the department said Sunday. The robbery happened Saturday at Mi Pueblito at 900 E. Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock. RRPD said officers responded at 7:45 p.m. and were told a Spanish-speaking man entered the business with a firearm and demanded money. New Year’s Day in Denver is ripe for a walk outside in the fresh air with meteorologists forecasting mild, sunny weather on Monday.The high temperature is forecast to be 53 degrees with mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Los Angeles County area on New Year's Day.The temblor struck off the coast about 12 miles south of Rancho Palos Verdes and south-southwest of San Pedro at 8:27 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 4.3 but that was later reduced to 4.1 by the USGS. Shaking from the quake, which had a depth of just over 7 miles, was felt across the county.The New Year's Day magnitude 4.1 earthquake. Jan. 1, 2024.
