UCity apartment building gets flood buyout; homeowners still waiting on theirs

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – Flood-weary University City residents are still hoping for a flood buyout. They’ve been waiting a long time. Those along Wilson Avenue were slammed in the powerful floods in July 2022, just like the rest of the St. Louis area.University City had hoped to buy out 300 homes but had to cut that request down to 14, a request that still has not been approved by the fed.While homeowners on Wilson Avenue are still awaiting help, the owner of an apartment complex is getting $3.2 million in a federal flood buyout.University City applied for the money in a national competition and was one of the local winners.The apartments will be torn down and made into green space. University City City Manager Gregory Rose said they have no control over the approval process. PAGEDALE, Mo. – Police in Pagedale are investigating a drive-by shooting that sent one man to the hospital Tuesday evening.The shooting happened around 7 p.m. on Robbins Avenue.Police claim the shooting was not random and that a vehicle pulled up to the victim, a man in his 20s, and the occupants in the vehicle opened fire.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday. The incident occurred in a parking structure near 5th and Hill streets at around 4:25 p.m. as the Central Narcotics Enforcement Detail was making an arrest in the Jewelry District, LAPD confirmed to KTLA. Details are limited and it's unclear exactly what led to the situation, but an altercation occurred with an uninvolved adult male who stabbed the officer and fled the scene, prompting a foot pursuit. Several patrol units responded, and two ambulances were requested. The officer, who was wearing a tactical vest when he was stabbed, was taken to the hospital with minor puncture wounds, police said. (KRON) -- A Santa Rosa woman was arrested early Sunday morning after she rammed a police car with a stolen truck, the Santa Rosa Police Department said. Nobody was injured in the crash. An SRPD officer attempted to stop the truck at about 3:55 a.m. after seeing it "swerving and driving at inconsistent speeds" in the area of Marlow Road and Piner Road, police said. The driver sped up from 20 mph to 55 mph in an attempt to get away.
